Today Bertie had his final checkover by an expert. Ian at Church Stretton Motorcycles changed the front wheel bearings, checked the final drive and did various other clever things that I (Jim) don’t trust myself to get right. Ian and I also discussed and finalised the list of spares that will be carried on the trip.
Between us we decided that as the bike has nearly 30,000 miles on it and our trip could add another 40+ K miles we may as well fit a new clutch before we go. Ian’s experience of many GS’s is that the clutch will pack up within the first 40K miles so may as well bite the bullet now and get it done.
The Heidenau K60 tyres are sat in the garage ready to be fitted once we’ve done any final UK miles on the bike and BMW Chester will fit the alarm system in October.
Bertie is nearly ready 🙂
